Haddar

the city of Haddar. the city is basically build like a large disk that was shoved into the side of a mountain.A Disk that is twelve miles aross and one mile thick. The main part of the disk is suspended above the ground at a height of one hundred meters on five large support legs that are about a quarter of a mile in diameter each. There are at the base of every support leg a village for those people who want to live near civilization but not be a part of civilization. Each village, town really, has a specialization in providing raw materials to Haddar that are not provided by the SAI. The towns are Riverton, Evershade, Dryfield, Reddfeld, and Longlac. Life in the leg towns is comparable to life in the American West in the 1890’s. The leg towns are also the first port of trade for caravans or merchants from other cities. Each leg town has various official and unofficial means of access to the city above. Even with the much lower level of technology the leg towns are some of the best places to get hard to find goods and technologies that may have been found out in the wilds away from the cities. The leg towns may have several hundred to a thousand people living in them at any time. The population changes depending on the season and the availability or the demand of the resources that each city specializes in.
About thirty percent of the disk is inside the mountain and over the last thousand years the inhabitants have tunneled into the mountain. This district is called, very creatively “undermountain”
The disk has fifty levels. Each level is sixty feet tall. The first five levels are for infrastructure and physical plant needs of the city. Pipes, pumps nano factories and Otto storage are here along with the old computer cores that used to hold the Ethereals. (the new ones are deep underground) Alot of strange machinery and stuff, and a billion places for people to try and hide from… well just about anyone. These levels don’t have any permanent human habitation on them. Many squatters and smugglers try to set up more or less permanent dwellings but the Ottos (robots) controlled by the Ethereals chase them off whenever they find them. But still this area is fairly busy. Most of the machine operations are controlled by the Ethereals and their Ottos, but there are some humans (and cyborgs, and Simes) that work here helping to keep the city running.
Levels six to ten were only half finished by the Ethereals when they were building the city. These levels are nothing but mazes of rooms and workshops and warehouses of technology. Most of the stuff that was here has been taken by the inhabitants of the upper levels but there are many in the city who think there are treasures from before the UNITY or even odd bits of UNITY technology. This may or may not be true but that doesn’t stop many people from delving through the mazes of storerooms. Many people have started moving into these levels to live. There is more room than what is provided on the upper levels but there aren’t as many taps for water and foodbase. Life is harder here but more adventurous. Smuggler gangs and Wreckers have secret hideouts here, as well as some of the stranger Unity cults. Oh, I did a thing there. The actual UNITY will always be in all caps, but there are lots of cults of people who want to try and make another UNITY or to try and achieve that kind of total connection of consciousness. These are the Unity cults, and they try everything from drugs, sex, psychology, psychic rapport to cybernetic augmentation. All the cults are weird, most are harmless but a few are really dangerous. People who are judged too violent or anti-social live on levels six to ten, outside the rules of “civilized” society
